All is "Well"!

Water is life. And we are grateful, at the Haile-Manas Academy, to have it now in such abundance.

I've just returned from another trip to Ethiopia to oversee school construction and the highlight was watching the water gush from our newly dug well. Our well company mobilized in early January, and within two weeks had reached an underground depth that assures the campus a steady, reliable source of clean water. We could not resist sharing these pictures of the first moments the water was released to the surface, including the picture of me tasting the water after our pressure test (pressure was steady at around 20 liters per second). The water was cold, clear and delicious!

Best of all, we now know that with the installation of a basic filtration system, we will be able to draw potable water from designated taps across the campus – we won’t have to deal with the hassle, expense, or waste of bottled water.

Developments at Haile-Manas Academy are coming fast and furious as we gear up to open the school this fall - in just seven months. The Phase One buildings are on pace, and we have begun to place orders for dorm and classroom furniture, equipment, and supplies. We are also hiring teachers and beginning to recruit students.

We couldn't do any of this--the well, the dorms, recruiting students--without your help. We are grateful for your support throughout this journey, and we hope you will share this post with your friends who might wish to help, so the gifts can 'gush' like our new well!

Yours,
